Magpies are not a breed we see here in Maine. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a real Magpie. However, this bird is the most requested bird ornament from readers, and a pretty bird he is.

Thank you so much for designing and sharing these patterns! They truly are a work of art 🙂 I am planning to make some of them for our Yule tree, I can foresee that these will be special ornaments handing down. I love watching the birds while I cook out my window. Magpies are really fascinating birds to watch, there wings are iridescent that sparkle in the sun. I never thought about how lucky I am to see magpies on a daily basis.
How generous you are to share these patterns with us! My Mom is recovering from cancer surgery and these projects have lifted her spirits. I am very grateful. God bless! May I request a woodpecker or mockingbird as future patterns?
I love magpies. They’re smart and interesting. Here in California, we have the wonderful endemic yellow-billed magpie, so I think I’ll make that one small amendment to your pattern. 😀
Thanks for the magpie! I altered your robin pattern to make a magpie. It came out pretty good! I failed to get a picture before I gave it away.
Thank you for making the magpie. They are considered a nuisance in my home state of Colorado, but I love them. I live in Indiana now and miss them. When my son saw one for the first time as a boy, he fell in love with them too. They are smart and cocky like a crow. I have been searching for a long time for some type of magpie painting, ornament, figurine…anything. Your’s is the first! Again, thank you!
I am EXCITED to find your website! It’s a treasure chest of patterns that are exactly what I’ve been looking for for a set of placemates I want to make for Christmas gifts! Wow!
