I’m not a wonderful gardener, but I’ve made a bit of effort to have a few annuals, perrenials, and wildflowers around the house. Yet my favorite blossoms this time of year as the lavender is fading are the oregano and marjoram blossoms. And I have a LOT of them. Was were once individual plants have taken over producing more herbs than I can ever use. They are so tiny, delicate, and beautiful.
Lingering in the yard early the past few mornings has been my therapy after some over-full weeks. Watching the rabbits explore the yard. Enjoying Doodle’s first dip of the day in the pond. Listening the birds while watering Hannah’s pumpkins. These things start the day off with Joy.
Slumbering Bees
I spotted something new to me during this contemplation. Early in the cool of the morning, my herb flowers are littered with sleeping bumble bees!
They hang on to the underside of the blooms, their wings closed in slumber.
Sometimes holding on by just a few legs.
My lavender is a happy resting spot too. A bit later, all the bees were awake and at work, the herb patch abuzz with activity.
Busy Bees
I caught some busy bees in action, too. The honey bees favor the pumpkin blossoms over the herb flowers–and there are dozens of bright sunny blossoms.
These small moments in my garden fill me with joy and gratitude, reminding me of the simple beauty and magic of nature if you but take time to look.
