After roasting while working at the Farmer’s Market yesterday, Hannah and I decided to take a ride so we could enjoy the car air conditioning. We cruised through the barrens scoping out locations for Hannah to film in the upcoming weeks. (Photo credit Hannah S. Bennett).
As we rambled along the barren dirt roads, we spotted this little bird peering at us through the not-quite-ripe berries.
A little research identified this as an Upland Sandpiper.
The pair watched us while we photographed from the car. (Photo credit Hannah S. Bennett).
I love the composition of this photo, but it’s blurry as I was sitting on the wrong side of the car and had to shoot through the windshield.
Hannah, however, got a great shot. (Photo credit Hannah S. Bennett).

His partner stood at attention on my side of the road.
One of our few forays outside the car on this miserably hot day.
The barrens overlooking Schoodic Mountain. Our goal for the summer is to try to make it back up here one day for sunrise and sunset!
