snowy feeder

It snowed for most of Saturday, covering the landscape with a fluffy three inches of snow.

I enjoy being a recluse on these snowy days, cozying up on the sofa with a book and watching nature unfold.

I am particularly taken with the white-breasted nuthatch that has been visiting— a welcome new guest this season.

This morning, a “cheer” of evening grosbeaks descended upon my feeders, their bright colors standing out against the snowy backdrop.

I can only imagine that the woodpecker is wondering, “What has happened to the neighborhood?”

They usually appear only once per season.

In moments like these, I find myself taking a breath and truly appreciating the little wonders of nature around me. It’s a comforting reminder of all the beauty that exists, even in the simplest things.
