This was the scene on Monday, a week into Spring. We had ice-out on the pond and one happy duck.
Just three days later, on April 4th, we woke to this. Heavy wet snow fell all day long–more snow than all of our winter snows combined this year. It’s been a year of one challenging storm after another, but most of them have been torrential rains with wind, power outages, and flood damage. Surprisingly, we didn’t lose power this time around, but many along the coast are still waiting for their power to be restored.
The forecast had been spot on, so we’d already planned a work-from-home day. I puttered away while watching the birds visit – purple finches, chickadees, nuthatches, goldfinches, blue jays, and crows all made an appearance.
I had this pair to keep me company. Look how close together they’re sitting! We’ve made progress in the month Murphee has been with us–and Gidget seems to have forgiven me.
The rumor is that Spring may be returning – the weather forecast calls for 50s by Monday.
I’m so happy to see the pups are getting along. In the upside down, we are still struggling with summer hanging on -esp the humidity. Ugh. Enough already. Do you get snowed in regularly?
April always gives us a lot of wind and rain on the east coast, and we also get snow showers and hail.
It does take time for the pups to settle, same with kitties.
and then, the personalities to mesh.
