Mom passed away two months ago, on March 17th. Today I received a gift from her – something ordered months ago before we knew cancer would rule the rest of her days.
Shopping was mom’s favorite way to care for those she loved. Unexpected boxes would arrive in the mail. A gadget. A pretty T-shirt. A new whiz-bang floor cleaner. A pair of earrings. A bag of pine nuts she knew I’d love but would never spend the money on. All the lavender in my garden stems from Mom’s gifts.
Today’s precious and unexpected gift is a pack of tomato seedlings ready to plant. They’re a little early for Downeast Maine; we anticipate a frost tonight.
What I wouldn’t give for the opportunity to call her tonight to say, “Thank you, and I love you.”
She is listening. Tell her in your Heart! Or go outside tonight and pick out a Star for her. You can talk to her Star!! How loving- both you and Mom and Hannah
Thank you, Ann. ♡
What a wonderful gift to let you know your Mom’s love is constant, beyond space and time ♥️ blessings!
Thanks for sharing. Your Mom reminds me of mine. She was a kindred sprit that had a special knack of finding just that perfect something that knitted the universe’s fabric together.
I was sad to read about your mom’s passing. I’m blessed to have celebrated my mom’s 88th birthday in April. The plants arriving are a sign that she will always be with you. Always close to your heart. Praying for her and peace for you in the days to come.
Indeed, Ann, she is listening. And the star- beautiful.
I once heard that the only way you know this deepest desire to communicate love- gratefulness- is by the person who first offered you that very same gift.
Love is so fortunate to not be dependent on a cell plan.
Sending so much peace,
Bonnie
