I had so much fun with my Birds on Branches last week that I had to make more. Last week I experimented with a lightly stuffed felt Blue Jay ornament and mixed media collage ornaments. This mourning dove, my favorite of the new designs, is finished flat. When I completed the front – before adding beads or French knots – I ironed on a circle of stiff interfacing to the back to give it form. Then I sewed a white 4.5″ circle to the back with a running stitch. When finished, I trimmed the white with my pinking sheers. I like the way this one turned out.
Here’s another cast of characters to create with felt or collage – Downy Woodpecker, Purple Finch, Bluebird, Barred Owl, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Mourning Dove. Stay tuned. There may be more Birds on Branches coming!

Thank you so much for all your wonderful patterns and ideas.
Have you thought about putting together a pack of felt for the Christmas ornaments? Thank you.
That you so freely share your talents with us is amazing, thank you. They are beautiful and well thought out. Your photos are always lovely and many are breathtaking. What I love best is the tight, loving, adventuresome closeness you all have. What a wonderful gift.
Love these and the others!! Thank you!!
Maryalis, it’s not on my radar at the moment!
You’re welcome!
Aww. Thank you. I hope you enjoy!
You’re welcome!
I LOVE these ornaments!!!! I do have a question though: Can you make a pattern book for ” Rio Grande Valley Birds?” This is where I live now and I would really appreciate to be able to make birds around my home. Thank You!
If I ever get to the point where I’ve created enough birds for it, I’ll consider it!
Oh well, I’ll keep checking. Your designs are so beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
