It’s a little challenging to shoot a realistic photo of a hummingbird in Maine – in the winter. He surely looks out of place!
I struggled with the colors for this throat. The color “Rufous” is a brownish-red. Yet when they sun hits this little guy, he lights up.
So, I tested out two colors – rufous on one side and an orange on the other. I lean toward the rufous – but you can chose any color you like for our Rufous Hummer. Enjoy!

You are so clever and generous – thank you. When we lived in British Columbia these little guys used to visit – there were four varieties of hummingbirds that were frequent visitors. Where we live now we are grateful for the ruby throated hummers that spend the summers with us. ♥
I would like to purchase one of the completed hummingbird ornaments. Are they for sale?
I do not sell completed ornaments- just the kits to make your own! 🙂
Many thanks 😉 toujours de si belles créations merci Geneviève de France
Adorable! I like the idea of using both colors as you did! Jan in MA
