Hannah alerted me the other day that some of the young deer had been nibbling from the leftover duck food. This morning, I spotted a trio of deer in the yard, a baby searching for food. When I stepped outside, they bounded off to the woods. When they paused to look back at me, I started talking gently to them. Mama took a step towards me and ultimately one of the babies. The longer I talked, the closer they came until they were in the middle of the drive – still quite a ways from me – but it was sweet.
