I haven’t taken many bird photos this summer; the porch screens interfere with the opportunities. Yet today’s show outside had me washing the sole kitchen window in which I’d left the screen out.
A couple of late summer ruby-throated hummingbirds spent the afternoon outside my window.
They alternated between this perch and the hummingbird feeder with a few circles around the yard in between.
I’ve never had such a prolonged opportunity to photograph and enjoy them.
Can you believe that tongue?
I can’t express how much joy these little birds brought me today.
The colors.
The antics and expressions.
It makes me a little sad to know that this could be the last day for the hummers this summer before starting their journey south.
Awesome photos! Thank you for sharing these. The last of our ruby-throat hummers left on August 30 – we miss them.
Such beautiful photos – a real treat to see them! I love hummingbirds but sadly we don’t have them here in the UK. I hope they stick around a little while longer so you have the chance to watch them again.
