Since returning in mid-August from the college drop-off in Ohio, it seems like Autumn has made an early appearance. Today, when it felt warmer outdoors than in, I moved my “office” back to the porch.

Gidget was first to alert me that we had an unexpected porch visitor.

I’m not sure how long this big ‘ol dragonfly had been fluttering about, but she was desperate to get out. A Swamp Darner maybe?

It’s not easy to photograph dragonflies, so I took advantage of this captive target for a few pictures.

They are fascinating creatures.

Just look at those colors.

And Gidget was quite gentle, only once trying to tap it with her paw.

I unfastened the corners of the screen curtains and coaxed our little visitor on her way.
