Low on motivation this afternoon, I talked Hannah into joining me on an outing to explore a new trail to the shore I learned about this week. She said she’d go but wasn’t up for a big hike.
It turns out that the trail was just our speed. A short walk along a path roughly carved out of the woods led us here.
A small beach spread out before us with a two-foot stretch of sand above the rocks on Pigeon Hill Bay.
Petit Manan Light was visible in the distance.
Rockweed swayed in the ebb of the tide.
The little red house we’ve admired from the top of Pigeon Hill sat across the bay.
While I was photographing the scenery, Hannah was on a treasure hunt.
She understands the science of hunting sea glass – where it’s likely to hide, and eagle eyes. She found some beautiful colors today – unusual purples and pretty greens. Most of the pieces were “ripe” as we say or nicely tumbled by the ocean’s waves.
You never know what you’ll find at the end of the trail.
Oh I thought you were going to give us some tips on finding sea glass!
So glad she went with you. I don’t think I’ve ever seen purple sea glass. I love the pieces you made into gifts for her birthday.
