In our neck of the woods, the nights have suddenly turned crisp – a reminder that we’re on the downside of summer. The stores have dishes, signs, and textiles featuring trucks loaded with pumpkins. While I’m not ready to break out the pumpkin spice, I thought I’d take a hand with an Autumn ornament.
This Vintage Pickup Truck with Pumpkins felt ornament is six inches long. It’s not stuffed but is given structure with a piece of wire bent into a zig-zag and tacked on the inside. I thought about putting it on a decorated grapevine wreath, but I didn’t have a good-size wreath for the project, so I looked for an alternative. I attached it to a piece of driftwood I brought home a couple of weeks ago. Embellished with autumn flowers leftover from last year’s Autumn Joyful Owl Wreath and some dried seed pods, it hangs from a ribbon.

Well now you’ve done it! Besides your critters, birds & bugs patterns, you’ve come up with a pattern totally different from what I’ve seen in the past. (Simply LOVE the truck pattern – thank you!) Have long followed your pattern debut’s to see what you would come up with next & have even made some of your free patterns & they are AWESOME! So clear, precise & easy to follow directions that turn out beautifully and I appreciate you sharing your talents with everyone. I am totally addicted to wool applique & have “bought” tons of patterns over the past few years since I discovered this craft & I think I can recognize talent when I see it. Girl! You need to get busy & start designing & selling your patterns! I don’t know if you have a day job or not, but I really, REALLY think you should consider quitting it if you do & start making patterns FOR SALE! I sincerely appreciate the free patterns, but why not make some money off your wonderful talents??? Seriously. I. Am. Not. Kidding.
What a lovely compliment. I do have a day job. And I do make a bit of money in the side with my kits.
I love this! Thanks so much for sharing.
Wonderful project. And it looks terrific on the branch and I think it’s perfect there (looks like it’s traveling down the road!).
Oh this comes at a perfect time!! I’ve been wanting to make the VW for my oldest daughter and her hubby, but didn’t know what to make for my youngest daughter and her hubby. Now I do!! My youngest loves the fall season, and my oldest used to own a baby blue VW. I’ll be placing another order soon!!
The truck looks great. I am looking forward to starting it in September. Thank you for your creative spirit. Your projects bring me so much joy. Much happiness – stay healthy.
Enjoy!
You’re welcome!
I made this pattern for my niece; she is a hairdresser, and hung it at her work station, so your fame has been spreading among her clients! I also adapted it for spring and filled it with tiny flowers instead of pumpkins. It turned out well, and I sent it to a friend who collects all things vintage truck. Thank you for sharing!
So glad you’ve had fun with it!
