Best wishes to all for a Joyful Thanksgiving!
And a happy, happy birthday to my wonderful mom! Lots of love to you.

Mom’s gift is this Joyful Owl Wreath. The owl sits in a smaller grapevine wreath decorated with artificial greenery and lavender so she can enjoy it all year long. I shortened the Joyful Owl design by about 1/2 inch or so on the bottom so she would fit. Download the pattern for her here. Or purchase the kit here.
Hi from the Gulf Coast of Alabama where I have on shorts today!
I am new and subscribing to your lovely blog. First of all, I would like to tell you how thankful I am that you share your patterns with your readers. I am new to making felt ornaments although I am a long time crafter and like to sew.
I have a question about why you use the wool blend felt. I plan to order some from you. Is it a matter of price because the 100% wool is costlier, or does the blend actually work better? I would assume the polyester craft felt squares that is readily available is too thin for these projects and would not have much durability over the years, am I right?
Another question is have you (or maybe your readers) ever tried to felt old sweater wool to use for crafts?
Again, thank you for your graciousness in sharing. Just beautiful work and blog.
Hi, Robin. 100% wool felt sheets are an option, but from my supplier, there are not as many color choices as in the wool blend. Because of that I never really explored the pricing question. That said, I enjoy the wool-blend much more than the pure polyester sheets available in the big box stores. I’ve used old wool cloth and socks, but never sweaters. Whatever works – go with it!
