I left work early yesterday, so this morning I headed in early to make up for lost time. Cruising along U.S. Route 1, I noticed the tide was in and there was sea smoke on the Pleasant River. I tucked into one of my favorite spots to snap some pictures.
After a few days of rain, it was a lovely morning. In the peaceful solitude, I studied a quartet of geese noodling about. They didn’t seem overly concerned about my presence.
This dingy, which is often tied up in this spot, creates such a wonderful focal point. How I’d love to take it for a row and see the view from the river.
Turning to return to my car, I spotted a goose gliding out from the tall marsh grass. And then another.
And another, until there was a stream of geese, one by one, single file. Twenty-five geese in all departed their night time resting spot.
As I watched the parade of geese, a blue heron flew into view and landed in a tree across the marsh.
It was a magical morning.
And I was late to work.
Blue Heron are so beautiful and graceful
We have a regular visitor to my dad’s retirement community Ashby Ponds
We have also seen a very beautiful young heron, or perhaps a white egret.
Sorry about the lateness to work. You can just share this stunning photo…. and offer to work a little over time <3
We all should be able to start every morning like this!
Beautiful
