The significance of Independence Day is singular for each of us. For me, the Fourth of July was freedom from livestock in the mudroom. The ducklings have officially moved into the ducky halfway house.
The halfway house is a portable critter house on skids. Puddles, Murphy, and Doodle will live here until they no longer need a nightlight, have been accepted as Squeak’s flock, and move into the big duck house.
They share a fence with Gidget who is very curious about them. Please ignore my “yard” which is more of a meadow at the moment.
After a few days of brutal heat, the humidity has passed, and tonight is going to be chilly. We rigged up a heat lamp for them and Hannah loaded them up with extra wood chips to snuggle down in. I love their little silhouettes.
They grow up so fast!
