When building our house I didn’t install a back splash in the kitchen. In part because I didn’t know what I wanted to do, and in part because I just wanted to be finished! After seeing a tin tile ceiling in a restaurant, I started doing some research on using them for a back splash. I found what I wanted and ordered the metal tiles. Last weekend we installed the 2’x2′ tiles. Paul did all the measuring and cuts as I am geometrically challenged. I glued them up and put them into place. Yesterday I painted the metal the same color as the walls, but used an oil-based semi-gloss paint to keep them from rusting and make them easy to clean. I’m pretty pleased with end result!
My husband and I really like that look! That was a very clever use of an easily acquired material. What kind of glue/adhesive did you use?
Adding the paint really finished the look, I’m envious of your wonderful kitchen!
What a beautiful job and perfect finish to your lovely kitchen. I enjoy all your emails and the Special Love between you and your daughter. Ann
That’s fabulous! In another house I used an embossed wallpaper to get the same effect. I like your way better. Our new house has ugly cultured stone and mismatched tiles as a backsplash. I can’t wait to take it all down! 🙂
I like it! We’ve been thinking about trying it on our kitchen ceiling.
The tin tiles look fabulous!
Kathy, we used Locktite PowerGrab recommended by the company from which we purchased the tiles.
Thank you!
I explored the embossed wallpaper idea but couldn’t find anything I liked. I think this was probably cheaper too!
Thanks!
