When the weekend forecast looked gray, I played hookey on Friday and headed to Acadia National Park with Paul. My end game was to see Cadillac Mountain in full autumn color. At home, color has mostly faded, the leaves losing their hold on the season. Acadia seems to be just entering peak leaf season.
The colors were pretty on the say up to the summit.
My partner in hookey.
The Blue Hill Peninsula in the distance. Liken on the rocks creates a green carpet.
Clouds creating some depth in the sky.
Spectacular colors.
From the summit – three cruise ships in the harbor.
That place where the open ocean meets the sky.
Lunch at Geddy’s watching a Windjammer sail in and shuttles running to and from the three cruise ships anchored in the harbor.
Pure Maine.
A mountain’s reflection.
Next on my Cadillac photographic agenda is the summit at sunset.
thrilled to see your photos from Cadillac Mountain. My husband and I were there last week off a cruise ship. Wonderful views, even if the colors weren’t quite as rich as in your photos.
Thank you for posting these beautiful photos. I love Maine. We ususally vacation there every year. This year we added 2 days in Portland to the end of a trip to Canada because we just can’t stay away.
Beautiful pictures. Our leaves are just staring to turn. The northern tier counties have completely changed.
