A late afternoon drive through Roque Bluffs State Park found me eager to walk the beach. Even with temps near 30, a few moments outside the car and I abandoned that idea. The wind was so biting and cold that I quickly determined I was not properly attired for such an outing.
A wind swept snowy beach. I like the contrast of the snow bordering the sand.
The wind has carved dunes out of the snow.
The lonely countenance of these twin trees caught my eye on this wind swept landscape.
I visited the Outer Banks in NC last month, and encountered similar circumstances with biting wind and dunes – but they were made of sand. It was incredible. I was able to see dozens and hundreds of migrating snow geese, tundra swans, and various waterfowl. Even though I was half-frozen. Love getting nature photos.
