A few times a week I pass this solitary tree rising from a blueberry barren. I love the starkness of this simple pine, a sentinel over the winter landscape. The contrast between snow and sky presents the perfect foil for this unexpected centerpiece.

Lovely picture. There’s a similar tree near our home and I often wonder how it came to be standing alone in a field. In southern New Brunswick we are enjoying yet another storm.
I just love this site and everything in it. This made me smile as I’ve always loved the feeling that solitary trees gave me too. I used to love taking pictures of them…especially the old burly curly rough black oaks up in the Milpitas, CA mountains down in the bay area. We have tons of them up here where I live now, but it’s the redwoods that I have eyes for most of the time. Again, thank you!
