I ventured into this work of creating bird patterns three years ago with my Downeast Thunder Farm owl family of ornaments. So, it seems appropriate that my first pattern of 2014 be another owl. Although no self respecting pygmy owl would be found in Maine – especially in this sub zero icy weather!

Love your bird patterns. I want to follow in Willow Fodor’s steps and make some for our church fair. Willow and her husband are moving on to another lucky parish, so the field is open. Do you have a list of, say, 12 suggested colors of good felt from one of the suggested suppliers? Their lists are so vast it is hard to know where to start!
Thank you for your lovely work. What a gift
Thank you sooooo much for sharing your patterns,Susan. Today my mom and I spent time looking over all of the little birds I have made over the past year, from your patterns. We love them and they looked so sweet on the Christmas tree . PLEASE continue to share your talent with us ! I used the Raven as a prop while telling a story at work around a campfire yesterday as the snow swirled around the kids . I had put the raven on a big popsicle stick and had the child act out the story with it 🙂 Is there any way that you can start to make little animal felt patterns ,Susan? Happy New Year!!
I can see where you get your inspiration with all of the beautiful birds at your feeder. My new grandson loves a bird I have hanging from a light, so thinking about making him a mobile with some birds he can enjoy.

Janet, the colors I use most often (and find myself reordering often) tend to be the browns and grays. From Shoppe 3130 these are the ones I use the most: silver gray, storm cloud, smoke, black, white, antique white, teddy bear, peat moss, chocolate, beach sand, and light brown. Throw in a gold, blue, and red and you’d be set for most patterns.
Every time we see a new pattern, it’s like Christmas !!
Thank you so much for continuing to share these patterns.
Just love your birds and thank you so much for sharing the patterns. Smiles and Hugs, Grammyroo
Thank you so much for sharing your bird patterns!!! I made several owls and ducks for my family and for our annual church fair fundraiser. They are wonderful, and had lots of great comments! I decided to use glass beads for eyes, found I had to sew on the eyes first before stitching and stuffing the sides together. My first duck looked like he had buldging eyes (thyroid problem). He still was so cute. Again, thank you!! Jayne
Thank you for sharing. I can’t wait to get started, especially the putting together of colors. These are beautiful.
